The Pied Peepers of Osh
by Les MacDonald, August 1981
(To the patient men who count meteors not built by Ford from a fan)
Oshawa builds a pretty good car, with a reputation that's spread wide and far
But cars are not all that they have -- no by jeepers
When you talk to the guys with the Schmidt-Cassegrain peepers
Their names are Walter and Steve and Scott
And about their pasttime they talk quite a lot
For they're the charter members of a new Oshawa game
That will slowly but surely gain immense local fame
These three wonderful guys with their magnified eyes
Are our first practitioners of a long known art
Who end their day when most days just start
On a very clear night here's something they do
That's highly technical and commands a view
Of faraway sights in the deepest sky
Beyond altitudes where birds can fly
They're Scott, Steve, and Walter of this here place
They're the core and foundation of Oshawa's space race
They're the visual eavesdroppers on the universe place
And someday we know if there's no life on Mars
They'll find us a home somewhere else in the stars
The Pied Peepers of Osh
Let's give them a hand
Scott, Steve, and Walter
The best eyes in our land!
