My tenth night of imaging on the front porch in Oshawa. The moon is moving east every day. Last night it rose 1 minute before the end of astronomical twilight. Tonight, it rose 32 minutes after the end of astronomical twilight. So I decided to have another go at M13 and M92 in B&W.
My tracking throw-away rate was about 75% tonight! I got 5½ minutes of M13, but it took the whole 32 minutes! Later I discovered that the scope was unbalanced in RA when it is far west of the meridian. To confirm that this was causing the problem, I went to Altair (just transiting at the time) and did a series of images over 8 minutes (the period of the worm). The throw-away rate went down to 50%. I'll have to balance the scope for M13's part of the sky for tomorrow night's session.
