It was supposed to be clear (according to the weather people), but cirrus cloud covered the whole sky during the afternoon and wouldn't go away! Instead, tonight I discovered the wonder known as DDP (Digital Development Processing).

Here's how I process globulars now:

  1. Combine Files
  2. Square Pixels
  3. Apply DDP (Kernel - Low Pass More, both Parameters on "Auto")
  4. Tweak Histogram

This makes globulars much easier to process and gives better results than simply doing a Gaussian or Straight Line Stretch.

You can see a comparison between DDP and non-DDP processing on the Image Comparisons #2 page (note: this page opens in a new browser window).

Also, all my globular pictures in the PictureBook are now DDP versions.
