Overview

I imaged almost 1200 galaxies for ECU this month. From the 8 nights of imaging I compiled the top 120 galaxies as judged on their aesthetics. This month's session notes are below the overview section.

I also imaged two faint comets just for the heck of it:
C2005B1 (Christensen) in Böotes at magnitude 15.7
C2004K1 (Catalina) in Ophiuchus at magnitude 14.6

Note: These open in a new browser window too.

Session Notes

April 2005

Satellites passed through two galaxy fields while I was imaging them: NGC 3035 (April 16 @ 02:00:40 UT) and NGC 5183 (April 17 @ 06:07:30). The pictures are below.
NGC 3035 & Two Satellites
NGC 3035
Scope: 10" f/6.3 LX200, camera: SXV-H916 binned 2x2.
Trails from satellites XM3 and XM1 (above and below the galaxy respectively) show as broken lines due to the stacking of multiple 30-second exposures. XM1 was moved sometime after I imaged it -- it is being replaced by XM3 which is why they appear close together in the sky.

NGC 5183/4 & a Satellite
NGC 5183
Scope: 10" f/6.3 LX200, camera: SXV-H916 binned 2x2.
The trail from a faint, unidentified satellite appears above galaxy NGC 5184.
