Icy Air! made for an interesting spectacle on the night of January 6th: ice crystals in the air caused columns of light to appear directly above each streetlight in the neighbourhood. This
is the only time I've ever seen this happen! |

Galapagos |
In order to see Comet Halley at its best during its 1986 apparition, I went on a trip to mainland Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands. We had received special permission to go ashore for observing
on several nights. |
